Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have to cancel a trip?

Please review our Booking Terms & Conditions before booking any trip with us. We highly recommend purchasing trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance. You should also consider adding Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage which offers you maximum flexibility. If you’re a nervous traveler, have misgivings about an upcoming trip or have a schedule that’s liable to change prior to departure, then it’s a good idea to consider adding this kind of coverage to your travel insurance policy.

I'm a solo traveler. Am I welcome?

Of course! While there is a single supplement (which is something that I truly hope changes in the coming years in the travel industry), you are more than welcome to join the group. In fact, we hope to have a few solo travelers in this group. And we’re betting you’ll make new friends in no time!

I'm nervous about traveling with a group. Can you tell me how it is?

Most folks who travel in small groups say it is the highlight of the trip — getting to know other travelers who share your interests. Yes, you are going to be in these amazing destinations. But ultimately it is the people that make your trip.

Who are these trips for?

Wander Your Way Adventures are for those who are fit enough to walk and hike 4-8 miles a few days throughout the trip. Often we’ll be on paved or gravel roads. But sometimes we’ll be on uneven and rocky surfaces. Some of the trails will be easy and more flat to rolling. However there will be some walks or hikes with some steep uphill and downhill. While nothing will be strenuous or in the difficult range, there will be trails that will be considered moderate. Please know yourself and what you are capable of. Age doesn’t matter. Fitness level and ability does. If you have any further questions, please reach out to Lynne Nieman at [email protected].

Who are these trip NOT for?

These trips are NOT for those who are casual walkers. If you are someone who walks, even daily, but only on a treadmill or paved surfaces, you may not be comfortable on the uneven, rocky surfaces in the mountains or in wet terrain of a country like Ireland. Again, age doesn’t matter. If you are 75 and are used to hiking on rocky trails, then this trip is great for you. If you are 25 and only walk on a treadmill, then it’s probably not for you. If you are unsure, then please email Lynne Nieman at [email protected] so together you can determine if this trip is right for you.

What should I pack?

We strongly recommend taking less than you think you’ll need. Because we are partaking in a lot of walking and hiking, please bring appropriate clothing for such activities. You will want to have both shorts and long pants as, even in late June, there can be cool days and nights. Packing layers is best with short sleeves for the day and long sleeves for early mornings and evenings. A rain jacket is always a good idea as you will want to stay dry should we see some rain, and a warming layer such as a lightweight fleece is a good idea for cooler mornings or evenings. Good hiking shoes or boots are highly recommended. Be sure you have worn them enough so they are worn in and you don’t have to worry about blisters. A day pack and water bottle or water bladder are suggested for the daily hikes and a way to keep extra layers with you, water, snacks or anything else you need such as your mobile phone, sunscreen, chapstick, sunglasses, etc. There is no need for anything dressy, but for men we suggest at least one collared shirt (such as a golf shirt) for dinners at slightly “nicer” restaurants to pair with a pair of khaki-like pants and for women we recommend something similar such as a nice t-shirt or blouse to wear with pants or a skirt if you are a skirt wearer. But most of the places we will be are used to active travelers so active wear that can go from the trail to the restaurant is ideal.

Are we going hiking even though it’s raining and windy?

We do hike in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on an adventure! However, if the weather is unsafe for any reason (such as lightening or strong winds) or if it’s that horrible, we’ll find an alternative activity.

Are there any extra fees that I will have to pay on top of the listed price?

All trips list what is included and what is not included. There will be some meals you will have to pay for yourself. And the final night’s accommodation in Venice is NOT included. Please read over the entire itinerary and the section marked what is included and what is not included carefully. If you have any questions or if anything is unclear, email Lynne Nieman at [email protected].
